I felt that his struggles with his brotherly bond, which was his defining trait, was really underdeveloped and suddenly rushed/crammed into the episode where he confronted his brother. That final confrontation also felt pretty, idk, underwhelming? The action aspect was meh and the emotional side was alright, but felt overly forced because of the lack of sufficient prior development.
Enjoyment: 4/10
Again, overrated != bad folks! Did I enjoy watching 86? Eh, I guess? It was watchable and had a few bright spots. But I didn’t consider myself inspired or touched by anything going on in the show. Ultimately, 86 just felt like a very superficial, typical anime that you can turn on and watch for the season, but when all is said and done and you’re looking back on it, you can’t think of anything notable that actually happened. We met a few characters, watched them do stuff, some of them died, saw a "major" plot point resolved, and then watched them leave for greener pastures: everything that happened in the middle 70% of the series is basically a blur to me.

A 15-minutes original animation DVD (OAD), referred to as Baki: Most Evil Death Row Convicts Special Anime (バキ 最凶死刑囚編SP(スペシャル)アニメ), was included with the limited edition of the 14th volume of Baki-Dou on December 6, 2016. However, it adapts the arc of the same name from the second manga series, which is titled simply Baki. Created by Telecom Animation Film, it was directed by Teiichi Takiguchi and focuses on five inmates who break out of prison from around the world and travel to Japan. Angel's Friends, for the transformation sequences and magical girl motif. The characters look more akin to that of a normal anime as well. Puppy in My Pocket: Adventures in Pocketville, another Mondo TV production, has an art style reminiscent of anime from the mid-to-late 2000s and other animesque cartoons of the time (with characters having consistent shading and some like Kate having notable hair highlights) and a slight magical girl motif with the scenes where Kate or Ava use the Friendship Heart for anything from the Friendship Ceremony to Pocketpedia activations. Sophie et Virginie, for its very Japanese character designs and animation style; not surprising considering it was animated in Japan. The characters of Kaeloo often use sweat drops, face faults and other anime-like things. Ōban Star-Racers, the series was co-produced in Japan, so it isn't a surprise that it has a Japanese feel to it.
