I also think it should be plenty obvious that she starts liking him because she didn't realize she actually enjoyed her interactions with him until they were gone leaving just normal day to day interactions. Personally I find this dynamic charming, how he moved on and grew as a person from this and doing so by interacting with new characters and thus also leading to the FMC falling for him instead.
