En 2005,
North Stars Pictures annonce une nouvelle série de trois films et
deux OAV du nom de Fist of the North Star (真救世主伝説, Shin Kyūseishu Densetsu?, trad. litt. : Fist of the North Star : La Légende du véritable sauveur). collector, numéroté et classique chez Kazé). Hokuto no Ken, OAV 1 : La Légende de Julia (Hokuto no Ken – Yuria Den?) : OAV sorti en DVD le 23 février 2007 au Japon et le 10 juin 2009 chez Kazé en France. Hokuto no Ken 2 : L'Héritier du Hokuto (真救世主伝説 北斗の拳 ラオウ伝 激闘の章, Shin kyûseishu densetsu Hokuto no Ken - Raōh Den Gekitō no Shō?) : film sorti le 28
avril 2007 au Japon et sorti directement en DVD (direct-to-video) le 17 février 2010[39] en France (sous deux éditions, collector et classique chez Kazé). Hokuto no Ken, OAV 2 : La Légende de Toki (トキ伝, Hokuto no Ken – Toki Den?) : OAV sorti en DVD le 26 mars 2008 au Japon (sous deux éditions, collector et classique) et le 23 juin 2010[40] chez Kazé en France. Hokuto no Ken 3 : La Légende de Kenshiro (ケンシロウ伝, Hokuto no Ken Zero – Kenshirō Den?) : film sorti au cinéma en octobre 2008 au Japon et sorti directement en DVD le 29 septembre 2010[41] en France (sous deux éditions, collector et classique chez Kazé). Spectacles[modifier | modifier le code] En 2017, un spectacle live Ken le Survivant est annoncé comme « expérience éphémère » à la rentrée 2018, et ce à l'occasion du 35e anniversaire du manga. La pièce prendra place 6 au 10 septembre, au Tokyo Dome G-Rosso[42]. La pièce ne s'articulera visiblement pas autour du personnage principal, Ken, mais autour d'une bande de malfrats aperçus dans le manga.
Yet it doesn’t absolve those involved from imbuing
their own ideas and nuances to create something worthwhile. Darling in the FranXX doesn’t seem to comprehend this point, as it overtly uses critical elements from several other anime as a faux attempt of appearing sophisticated.
For ease of reading, I have created a short list of instances that were copied, slightly altered, or outright stolen from other anime (this is not all-inclusive, as there are countless examples):
-The underground city bears resemblance to Tokyo-3 and the Geofront from Evangelion.
-The mysterious men/women in the white uniforms that have significant influence are rip-offs of SEELE from Evangelion.
-The launch sequences are essentially mirror images of Evangelion’s launch sequences (see a theme here).
-There was some kind of testing that was being performed in the early episodes that paralleled the synchronization tests in Evangelion.
-Episode 6 of Darling in the FranXX has been compared to episode 8 of
Gurren Lagann. Which makes perfect sense, since Atsushi Nishigori (the director of Darling in the FranXX) was the director for episode 8 of Gurren Lagann, but this brings up a more serious issue: why is Nishigori reusing old ideas from over ten years ago? Not only that, but why is episode 6 of Darling in the FranXX a worse rendition of his earlier work (he couldn’t come up with improvements in all these years)?
-Episode 13 is a reverse retelling of Beauty and the Beast — in fact, the title of the episode is The Beast and the Prince (they’re not even attempting to disguise their intentions at this point).
-Episode 20 we find out that VIRM wants to annihilate the klaxosaurs who retreated underground, similar to the spirals (who lived underground) fighting the anti-spirals in Gurren Lagann.
-Mecha’s transforming to absurd levels of scale and power like Gurren Lagann.
-Instrumentality, much?
Then comes the real “butt” of my issue with this series, and this concerns the “doggy-styled” positions the girls must assume to pilot their Evangelions — I mean, their FranXX’s.
