When Buntan asked about how to deal with Funamushi's Water Release,
Boruto commented it seemed familiar, and asked Mitsuki about Suigetsu's Hydrification Technique, getting confirmation that while using it, Suigetsu became vulner
able to Lightning Release. The next day, the Funato attacked again, harder than before despite their smaller numbers, Kawaki having to pull Boruto out of the way of a sacrificial attack. Funamushi arrived and attacked Boruto, taunting him about Denki and Iwabee. Boruto exploited the timing of Funamushi's jutsu to attack with him Lightning Release, but it began to rain, allowing Funamushi to use his Water Release: Raging Jellyfish. Knowing he was still injured from their previous fight, Boruto wanted to get close to land a Rasengan on him.
Team 7 drew Funamushi's attention while Hebiichigo immobilised him with Nuibari. He was able to break free and land a fatal blow on Hebiichigo, but Boruto was also able to land his attack. On the ground, Funamushi was able to grab Boruto just like Kagura, but Buntan killed him before he could do the same, avenging Kagura. Hebiichigo died from her injuries, and they mourned her after burying her besides Kagura. Boruto is attacked by Kobuna. Two days later, while searching for Iwabee and Denki with Metal, Team 7 discovered an injured Funato soldier, who they brought back as a potential source of information.

He reunites with Emilia and Puck, and
then meets Roswaal, who tells him that Emilia needs the insignia to be qualified as a candidate of the next monarch in the upcoming royal election. As a reward, Subaru asks to work at the mansion as a butler. Working alongside Ram and Rem, Subaru struggles with all of his duties during his first days on the job. He visits the local village with them to buy supplies where he plays with some children and a puppy which bites him on the hand. That night, Subaru asks Emilia to go on a date with him to the village and she agrees.
