Pinglin’s town center is a small village with several teashops and restaurants serving tea-infused foods. Pinglin Tea Museum is excellent. I also recommend renting a bike and cycling past the tea fields south of Pinglin Riverside Park. Aboriginal millet wine vendor in Wulai Wulai (烏來) is the closest aboriginal village to Taipei and is famous for its hot springs. You can taste aboriginal foods and millet wine on Wulai Old Street, take a soak in one of the many private hot spring spas, or ride the gondola over Wulai Waterfall. You can also ride a different MRT south of Taipei, the Orange Line, to Yonghe and Zhonghe. These two crowded districts have a few off-the-beaten-track spots like Museum of World Religions, Lehua Night Market, Zhonghe Myanmar Street, and the giant Earth God statue at Hongludi Nanshan Fude Temple. Western New Taipei City The most developed part of New Taipei City is the western portion, between Taipei City and Taoyuan City. Lin Family Mansion in Banqiao Banqiao (板橋) is the seat of the New Taipei City government and feels very similar to Taipei City. It’s on the Taipei City MRT, TRC, and HSR lines. A few attractions worth considering in Banqiao are Lin Family Mansion and Garden (a popular spot for taking photos in traditional hanfu or qipao), Banqiao 435 Art Zone, and Nanya Night Market. One trend is the protagonist reincarnating into the body of an unimportant side character, or even a villain (as in My Next Life as a Villainess: All Routes Lead to Doom! and Villainess Level 99). Another is being transported to another world without dying, such as in How a Realist Hero Rebuilt the Kingdom, Battle Girls: Time Paradox, and Kuma Kuma Kuma Bear. In some works, the protagonist is an adult reincarnated in a new world as a child with special powers (such as in Reborn to Master the Blade: From Hero-King to Extraordinary Squire, Chronicles of an Aristocrat Reborn in Another World, and Fluffy Paradise), or is reborn in a new world with special powers, but no changes to their appearance (such as in In Another World with My Smartphone and Farming Life in Another World). There are even instances of protagonists becoming inhuman creatures, such as in That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime, where the protagonist reincarnates as a slime with special abilities rather than a human; I've Been Killing Slimes for 300 Years and Maxed Out My Level, where the protagonist reincarnates as an immortal witch; or even sentient objects with magical abilities, such as a sword, a vending machine, or an onsen. [6] Others, known as "reverse isekai", follow beings from a fantasy universe who have been transported to or reincarnated into modern-day Earth, including the anime Laidbackers, Gate, and Re:Creators. [7] An offshoot of the isekai genre is the "second chance" or "reincarnation" genre in which the protagonist, upon dying, is transported not to a different world or new body but into their own younger self. With their new knowledge and older intellect, they are able to relive their life avoiding their previous pitfalls. [citation needed] Another offshoot of the genre includes the "slow life" approach, where the protagonist was overworked in their previous life, so decides to take it easy in the next. [4] Another offshoot is where the protagonist uses the new world to explore an interest, hobby, or goal they had in the previous world but were unable to achieve, such as studying or opening a business, like in Restaurant to Another World. [4] In many works, isekai overlaps with the harem and LitRPG genres, where the protagonist gains the affection of several potential love interests, who may or may not be human. One example of this is Harem in the Labyrinth of Another World.
