Vanguard is a shoot-'em-up that scrolls both vertically and horizontally. The tunnels you fly through flow left to right, down to up, up to down, and all manner of angles in between. It was a tough shooter, even by old-school standards, but it was made easier by the fact that bullets could cancel out other bullets.
