This has also affected the Jujutsu Kaisen anime, which is another dark shonen trio series. Chainsaw Man Cast & Staff Who May Return For Season 2 Close Related Chainsaw Man Director Waves Goodbye to MAPPA With New Studio Announcement Chainsaw Man director Ryu Nakayama has officially announced an animation studio away from MAPPA, revealing his new company's first animated video. If Chainsaw Man Season 2 is indeed on the way and maintains the cast and staff of Season 1, anime fans can expect a handful of familiar faces to help make that season the best it can be. Producer Keisuke Seshimo helped make Chainsaw Man's first anime season, and he is also associated with notable anime projects like Jujutsu Kaisen's first two seasons and movie, plus Yuri!!! On Ice, Banana Fish, and Dorohedoro. Those are all well-liked and high-quality anime series, giving fans faith that Seshimo can keep using his production talents to make another Chainsaw Man anime season a smash hit. Ryuu Nakayama, meanwhile, did work for Chainsaw Man's storyboards and key animation, along with directing certain episodes, and he is connected to major anime projects like One-Punch Man, Naruto Shippuden, the isekai anime No Game No Life, and the Jujutsu Kaisen movie, among others. As for the voice cast, fans can reasonably expect Season 1's talented cast to reprise their roles in Chainsaw Man Season 2 and the movie. Kikunosuke Toya, who voices the antihero Denji/Chainsaw Man, is a novice voice actor with few roles compared to other Chainsaw Man staff members, but he delivered a strong performance in the first season, and voicing Denji for more Chainsaw Man projects is sure to make him a household name among anime fans. Meanwhile, voice actor Fairouz Ai, who portrays the horned fiend Power, has been busy with many voice roles in the last few years, including Jolyne Cujoh and Rinia in Mushoku Tensei II, among a variety of smaller, more obscure roles. Due to certain character deaths, Chainsaw Man anime fans cannot expect some voice actors to return, such as Mariya Ise, who voiced Himeno, or You Taichi, who voiced the minor antagonist Akane Sawatari. However, fans can likely expect Tomori Kusunoki to return, who voiced the cool, mysterious Makima, Denji and Power's boss.

And when the time comes where a little group of selected characters survive the dumb killings from the first part, they discover the way to fight the unkillable enemies they were facing because they just bullshited their way to their new powers unlocking Tao, and lacks a basic consistent power system that most action shonen series have. And I’m not impressed, what should I be impressed here anyways? I mean, I guess the body horror where people are turned into flowers is not so commonly seen? But I guess that’s the best things I can give credit for.
I hope I can see MAPPA doing a good looking or even well animated show again, because I haven’t seen them doing it in years. Jigokuraku looks unsurprisingly ugly, it has the absolutely dreadful and soulless MAPPA’s filter just like Jujutsu Kaisen and Chainsaw Man which immediately makes it visually appalling, it is also subjected to obviously bad animation having no impact on any of their actions outside of fights, janky movements, bad compositing, ugly backgrounds, even fights don’t look that good either, they are extremely lackluster even for MAPPA standards, it is just my usual MAPPA’s animation complain that they haven’t managed to get over.
What was I expecting? Probably a series that is entertaining to watch, sadly Jigokuraku is as uninteresting as they come, it is just another ugly edgy schlock that MAPPA vomited out just like Chainsaw Man was and just like the next season of Jujutsu Kaisen will surely be.
Thank you for reading.
