-This was the first anime I watched (excluding Pokemon), but . I actually finished Brotherhood first. This probably deserves a lower score than a 6, but I can't bring myself to knock it down further because of the nostalgia factor.
-I'm probably going to get hate for this, but you're not changing my mind
Now on to the actual review.
Story: 5/10
FMA 03 started out following the manga but caught up to it too quickly, so they had to make fillers and stretch out some stuff. 03's pacing was actually fairly close to the manga's, albeit a bit slower becauase of the wait for the manga. But after some time (it happened gradually), the anime started to take on another story and by the end it was completely different from the manga. The fact that the story changed direction from the beginning left a lot of things unexplained and/or twisted into something else, and the bits of foreshadowing they included from the manga were ignored. The "plot twist" they threw out near the end came completely out of left field (which, in this case, was a very bad thing) and was not foreshadowed at all.

The next day in Satoru's absence, his mother is stabbed in the back and killed in his apartment by some random guy with a fedora. Do you see the problem here? I said the next day which is quite literally the next day. We don't even get a full episode to get to know or sympathize with this character. Instead we just know her for half of the first episode until she is brutally murdered. Oh no, it's almost like Attack on Titan. Who didn't cry at the first episode of Attack on Titan?!
Anyway, we don't know the man who did it nor do we know his intentions.

The following day, it is June 27 once again as the events of episode 4 repeat, though with Mai kissing Sakuta on the cheek while having lunch. While going home, the two encounter a middle-schooler named Shoko Makinohara shielding an abandoned cat from the rain, a doppelgänger with the same name as another girl whom Sakuta had fallen in love with when he was younger. However, the oddity is that the Shoko whom Sakuta had met was older than this girl; she had been in high school during the time Sakuta was in middle school. 7"Adolescence Paradox"

After meeting up with Mai, the couple spot Rio entering an Internet café; when Sakuta tries to call her to find her in the building, Rio answers the call, but they spot the Rio in the library without a phone. As such, they corner her and she admits that there are indeed two concurrent Rios in synchronic existence. The Rio from the library goes with them to Sakuta's apartment, where she suggests the duplication is a result of two personalities that move via quantum teleportation.
