Rose has her character more or less centered on her adoration of, and personal history with, Cid and an involvement with cultist Perv Asshat (yes, that is his name in-universe). Annerose, introduced as a warrior of high caliber, becomes a complete no-show for the last few episodes. Each new arc introduces more and more characters who become little more than blips on the show’s radar, unintriguing toys for Cid to use for whatever fantasy
kick he’s on at the moment. They are constantly janked around by forces they don’t understand, which does little to make them compelling players in the larger game.
But within the desert of characterization stand Alexia and Iris, sisters to
their own Midgar throne, as the exceptions to the material’s obsession with Cid being detrimental to everyone else. Their early introduction plot-wise and the fixation both on their personal status and relationship to one another and the larger-scale circumstances more-cohesively set off their personal journeys.
If Chainsaw Man Season 2 is indeed on the way and maintains the cast and staff of Season 1,
anime fans can expect a handful of familiar faces to help make that season the best it can be. Producer Keisuke Seshimo helped make Chainsaw Man's first anime season, and he is also associated with notable anime
projects like Jujutsu Kaisen's first two seasons and movie, plus Yuri!!! On Ice, Banana Fish, and Dorohedoro. Those are all well-liked and high-quality anime series, giving fans faith that Seshimo can keep using his production talents to make another Chainsaw Man anime season a smash hit. Ryuu Nakayama, meanwhile, did work for Chainsaw Man's storyboards and key animation, along with directing certain episodes, and he is connected to major anime projects like One-Punch Man, Naruto Shippuden, the isekai anime No Game No Life, and the Jujutsu Kaisen movie, among others. As for the voice cast, fans can reasonably expect Season 1's talented cast to reprise their roles in Chainsaw Man Season 2 and the movie. Kikunosuke Toya, who voices the antihero Denji/Chainsaw Man, is a novice voice actor with few roles compared to other Chainsaw Man staff members, but he delivered a strong performance in the first season, and voicing Denji for more Chainsaw Man projects is sure to make him a household name among anime fans. Meanwhile, voice actor Fairouz Ai, who portrays the horned fiend Power, has been busy with many voice roles in the last few years, including Jolyne Cujoh and Rinia in Mushoku Tensei II, among a variety of smaller, more obscure roles. Due to certain character deaths, Chainsaw Man anime fans cannot expect some voice actors to return, such as Mariya Ise, who voiced Himeno, or You Taichi, who voiced the minor antagonist Akane Sawatari. However, fans can likely expect Tomori Kusunoki to return, who voiced the cool, mysterious Makima, Denji and Power's boss. Tomori Kusunoki has voiced a rich variety of roles in the last few years, such as the character Shizuka Mikazuki in Zom 100: Bucket List of the Dead, a comedic, bloody, and subversive anime, not unlike Chainsaw Man. She also voices Lara in Tiger & Bunny Part 2.
