En France, la série a été diffusée le 27 août 2005 sur TF1 et diffusé quelques années plus tard, le 16 septembre 2006 jusqu'en 2014 sur Nickelodeon France et depuis janvier 2007 sur Game One, et au Québec à partir du 28 août 2006 sur Vrak. TV[2]. Se déroulant dans un monde fictif fortement inspiré de la culture et du folklore chinois, la série suit les aventures de Aang, successeur d'une longue lignée d'Avatars, maîtres des Quatre éléments, et de ses amis dans leur quête pour sauver le monde de l'impitoyable Nation du Feu, et restaurer l'équilibre des éléments. La série a été écrite à la manière d'une collection livresque, chacun des épisodes représente un « chapitre » et chacune des saisons, un « livre ».
