" Samurai Shodown, called Samurai Spirits in Japan, was released in 1993. The game used an upgraded version of the scaling graphics engine that was originally featured in Art of Fighting, but the play mechanics, character designs, and quality of animation were far more diverse and interesting than anything SNK had produced in the past.
