[99] An action video
game adaptation, Samurai Champloo: Sidetracked, was developed by Grasshopper Manufacture and published by Bandai Namco Games in Japan and North America in 2006. [100] It tells a storyline separate from the series, described by the publisher as a "lost episode". [101] Company founder Goichi Suda acted as its director and writer,
with Grasshopper's mandate being to preserve the series' original tone and style. [102][103] The music was composed by
Masafumi Takada, inspired by the anime's music. [104] A social card battle game developed by Cybird was released in Japan on August 28, 2011, for mobile phones. [105] Reception[edit] The North American DVD release of Samurai Champloo was a commercial success. [106] The final volumes were ranked by Nielsen VideoScan as among the top ten best-selling anime DVDs during mid-January 2006. [107] On review aggregate website Rotten Tomatoes, the anime has a rating of 88% based on eight reviews. [108] The Western home media releases saw positive responses for their visual and sound quality, though a lack of extras was noted. [109][110][111] Tasha Robinson, in a review of the first English DVD release for Sci-Fi Weekly, was concerned about the opening episode's similarity to the set-up for Cowboy Bebop. [3] In a similar review for Play Magazine, Dave Halverson noted his enjoyment of the story but felt readers should see the anime with as little story information as possible.

Later, Boruto joined his father in a sparring match at the Training Hall, seeing it as a chance to make up for his actions as the Chūnin Exams during which all his elemental attacks were absorbed by
Naruto, who goes onto defeating Boruto. Afterwards, Boruto learned that his father had his prosthetic hand modifed by Katasuke to include jutsu-absorbing capacities. While Boruto was furious at this deception, viewing Naruto as a hypocrite for using such advanced
tools in combat after scolding him for doing the same, Sasuke calmed Boruto down, explaining the tool itself is not the problem, but rather being over-reliant on it. As Sasuke explained more of the existence of Kara, Mitsuki asked if this group had anything to do with Boruto's mark that he gained from Momoshiki. While Boruto was furious at Mitsuki offhandedly revealing his secret, Naruto admitted that Sasuke already told them about it, which was another reason Naruto approved the development of this advanced weaponry. Katasuke then arrived to retrieve his prototype, to which Naruto assigned Team Konohamaru a C-rank mission to escort the lead scientist back to the lab in Ryūtan City. While Boruto stormed off in a huff, Naruto asked his genin team-mates to watch over him should anything happen with his mark. Mitsuki then talked to Boruto, convincing him to get over his anger and join the mission. Travelling by train to Ryūtan City, the group encountered Ao, who lectured Boruto about Scientific Ninja Tools, leading to him changing his views on it and respecting the man. Upon arriving at their destination, they unexpectedly encountered Sumire, and later, complete the other half of their mission involving testing out Scientific Ninja Tools. Afterwards, Boruto was greeted by Chamaru, who Boruto was happy to see again.
