Shunsuke Machitani, Nana HaradaJuly 10, 2022 (2022-07-10) A television special that takes place between the events of seasons 2 and 3; following the defeat of the Tsukasa Empire, the now much larger Kingdom of Science prepare to embark to the other side of the globe to discover the source of humanity's petrification 3,700 years ago. In order to do this, they begin construction on a large ship to cross the ocean. Senku realizes they will need a captain who has loads of experience with sailing the open seas, and to that end they revive Ryusui Nanami: a young man who is an extremely skilled sailor, and heir to the once powerful Nanami conglomerate pre-petrification. However, Senku and the kingdom must find middle ground with Ryusui's greedy demands, and it's proposed that if the kingdom finds Sagara Oil Field to extract the oil needed to operate the ship, they will give Ryusui full ownership of it. Ryusui immediately reinvents currency and uses it to establish a market system within the kingdom, thus being able to get paid for the oil once it's discovered. Senku deploys Chrome, Kohaku and Ukyo with a map of Japan's modern world coastline to scout for the location of the oil field, but they hit a dead end once its discovered that volcanic activity over the millenniums has vastly changed the terrain shown on Senku's map, thus making it next to impossible to locate it.

Martin Ouellette of the Canadian Protoculture Addicts compared the progression of the series to Dragon Ball Z and stated, "Togashi's art, while simple, is extremely efficient and the story is really fun. "[153] An older article by the same reviewer disagreed with the notion that YuYu Hakusho was similar to Dragon Ball, stating that the former franchise has better developed characters, more interesting action sequences, and more humor. [5] Eduardo M. Chavez of Mania. com enjoyed the manga's artwork and found that the supporting characters tend to be illustrated with more detail than the main characters. He praised Lillian Olsen's English translation, but disliked Viz's use of overlaying English words to translate the expression of sound effects. In later volumes Chavez was dismayed by the transition of the manga from the early detective cases to the Dark Tournament arc. He asserted, "Seeing fight, after fight, after fight gets boring and this seriously is only the start of this trend. "[154] Dan Polley, a staff reviewer of Manga Life, gave an average grade to the fifth volume, which entails Yusuke's battle with Suzaku, the leader of the Four Beasts. Although he found some the battle sequences to be engaging, Polley judged the chapters as lacking in characterization and development overall. Polley also discounted the manga's comedy, considering the "bit gags or fairly lame jokes" to be "too much" at times.

Dragon Ball, back when Goku was a kid. The reason Toriyama eventually dropped the parody and turned it into a fighting shonen was because he realized the joke of an unbeatable protagonist got old very fast. So, fast forward a few decades and a satire of superheroes came out, in a way that had never been done before. It was about an unemployed and bored of his own life superhero, casually defeating any monster that attacked him. And the name of that anime was. Tentai Senshi Sunred, a very fun and self-aware plotless comedy that even bothered to make the main villains seem like sympathetic fellows, instead of generic monsters of the week that get blown up in a few seconds. And it managed to do all that with a low budget. Unfortunately, almost nobody knows of it and the rest don’t talk about it because it didn’t have pretty colors. June 26, 2023.
