[168] Rising interest in anime as well as Japanese video games has led to an increase of university students in the United Kingdom wanting to get a degree in the Japanese language. [169] The word anime alongside other Japanese pop cultural terms like shonen and shojo have been added to the Oxford English Dictionary. [170] Various anime and manga series have influenced Hollywood in the making of numerous famous movies and characters. [171] Hollywood itself has produced live-action adaptations of various anime series such as Ghost in the Shell, Death Note, Dragon Ball Evolution and Cowboy Bebop. However most of these adaptations have been reviewed negatively by both the critics and the audience and have become box-office flops. The main reasons for the unsuccessfulness of Hollywood's adaptions of anime being the often change of plot and characters from the original source material and the limited capabilities a live-action movie or series can do in comparison to an animated counterpart.

Worse, the one person who pretends to be willing to help him betrays him and destroys his reputation, forcing him to complete his mission alone if he ever wants to see his home again. 47,923 votesMushoku Tensei: Jobless ReincarnationPhoto: Studio BindMushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation follows a destitute man leading a very depressing life who has been reincarnated into a magical world as Rudeus Greyrat. As he grows up in his new family and gains magical abilities, he begins to form relationships and find meaning in his life. Letting go of the trauma of his past isn't easy, but with new friends by his side and magical quests to attend to, it might just be possible. This series is beautifully animated and has excellent plotting and character development. However, the protagonist is known for saying disturbing things about children. For this reason, we don't recommend it to all viewers. 533,030 votesNo Game No LifePhoto: MadhouseNo Game No Life gets to the point immediately with its name alone. While they are incredible gamers, Sora and Shiro lack the skills to accomplish anything meaningful in their current world. In fact, they're so wracked with social anxiety that most of the time they can barely leave the house. Their lives change for the better when they get the chance to live in Disboard, a world where gaming determines every interaction and transaction. This is a show about a made-up sport called 'Keijo' which is basically sumo on a platform in a pool with boobs and butts. If you're not a complete snob about fanservice, you'll think it's pretty good. Check it out!
Inukami MAL Rated 7. 45, Ranked #1682 | Aired Spring 2006 | Produced by Seven Arcs Inukami is worth mentioning for the lengths it goes to with its perversions. Yes there are sexy undressed ladies, but it also features the main character being transported to another dimension, where a bunch of men wearing loincloths challenge him to a hip thrusting contest.
Golden Boy MAL Rated 8. 07, Ranked #438 | Aired Fall 1995 | Produced by APPP The golden oldie of the genre, Golden Boy follows the world's most inept genius in the world of anime as he tries to impress a string of originally dismissive, sexy women wearing very tight clothes. It was pioneering in its day for having its main character's hand morph into a penis whenever a pretty lady touched it. Hey, that's got to be someone's fetish, right?
Astarotte no Omocha! MAL Rated 6. 81, Ranked #4047 | Aired Spring 2011 | Produced by Diomedea I don't want to give away the outrageous premise of this ecchi rom-com, so you're going to have to have to go into this one blind. What I will say though, is that it's a heartwarming tale of a 10 year old succubus that needs to form a harem so that she's able to have a steady supply of semen, and eventually ends up falling in love with one of her mother's 23 year old concubines that she's previously produced offspring with.
It also keeps a calm pace throughout, as opposed to rushing like most Isekai, due to all the story skipped.
Long story short, it's a decent show if you want something more relaxed. If you want more, or are at all intrigued by the premise, consider giving the manga a read as well. It used to be highschoolers getting hit by trucks to enter the magical anime fantasy realm. Then it became college students, and now we have people in their mid-to-late twenties working soul-crushing IT jobs before biting the bullet. I can’t wait for the day when otakus are all geezers and we get to watch a show where an 80-year old dies of cancer and is reincarnated as a . magical sword boy who gets into hilarious sexual encounters with girls 60 years younger than him. For the time being though we have the first isekai I’ve seen with the protagonist pushing middle age: Kamitachi ni Hirowareta Otoko.
