The opening music video ( https://myanimelist. net/anime/55016/Idol ) is a 10/10 which helped with the hype for the show, and the 1st episode which is a double special can stand on it's own as a 10/10 as well, so I think the anime got such a good rating early on because of that. So what happens from here?
Starting from the MC (main character), is such a breath of fresh air . having a MC who's
actually smart, and despite having all the situations to be a pervert, he chose not to, unlike other shitty MCs whose that's their only defining trait (looking at you chainsaw man).
So all seems to be going fine until it's introduced this romantic sub-plot which inevitably
leads to bad writting and poorly written characters (which hurts by having one of
them being a main), and the main plot got massively side-tracked.
