Whereas a home cartridge of the original Metal Slug goes for roughly $1,000, Kizuna Encounter has sold for upward of $5,000. As a result, there are many counterfeit versions out there. The only good way to check for a counterfeit is to open the cartridge and see if there's a mess of wires inside or if the ROM chips seem two-thirds smaller than the slot they're soldered into.
