Le succès de la
série a incité Nickelodeon à commander une seconde saison[4] et une troisième fut annoncée en 2007[5]. Une adaptation cinématographique de la première saison de la série animée, réalisée par M. Night Shyamalan, est sortie en 2010 sous le titre Le Dernier Maître de l'air. Une suite comprenant 52 épisodes intitulée La Légende de Korra, mettant en scène le nouvel avatar en la personne d'une jeune fille issue de la tribu de l'eau, est diffusée du 14 avril 2012 au 19 décembre 2014 sur la chaîne Nickelodeon et son site de streaming. Une adaptation en live action de la série est diffusée sur Netflix. La première saison, diffusée le 22 février 2024, contient 8 épisodes d'envion 40 à 60 minutes.
