But Kimi wa Houkagi Insomnia isn't any of that, it's what I would call a "true romance" anime.
It doesn't provide any fanservice, 24/7 over the top humor, or wish-fulfillment. Instead it focuses on two things: Personal growth (i. e. regarding insomnia) and the development of a relationship between the two protagonists. The way those themes are handled is incredibly organic and the characters feel unique without being over the top or unrealistic. No "love on first sight" or "safe the damsel in distress" tropes, just two . teens slowly getting to know each other.
