In flashbacks, Germain is shown meeting his lover and with her researching the Infinite Corridor until she went missing. Within the Infinite Corridor, Germain meets an Alchemist who gives him a key to the Corridor so he can find his beloved—so long as he sacrifices everything he ever had, including his morals—also informing him that the only way to truly control the Corridor is to create a Rebis; an artificial body that is both man and woman, infused with two souls. Returning to Earth, Germain embarks upon a dark path to collect necessary items and information, until being recruited by Varney to aid in resurrecting Dracula, allying with him and the vampire warrior Dragan to orchestrate the attacks upon Danesti and other villages. Back in the present, Germain proposes moving the people of Danesti

While he is creating Night Creatures, Lenore informs Hector of Carmilla's scheme to dominate the world, confessing that Carmilla used her the
same way Dracula used Hector. Back in Târgoviște, Sypha expresses outrage at Zamfir taking food from the already-starved townsfolk to keep her own people nourished.

J'avais une impression de
mini scénettes, sans lien apparent, mais ce qui est somme toute logique lorsque l'on sait qu'il s'agit initialement d'un light novel japonais.
En effet, Mao Mao devra résoudre quantité de "mystères" sans
queue ni tête, souvent pour le compte de l'étrange Jinshi. Et c'est seulement vers la fin qu'on comprendra que quelque chose de plus grand se prépare. Les intrigues de cour étant plus présentes que jamais.
