opponent for Baki. It was supposed to be Junichi Hanada. Meanwhile, Baki meets Izou Motobe and trains under his supervision. The day before the fight, Baki and Motobe found a beaten Hanada at Motobe's house. It turns out that Tokugawa decided to put Hanada to some "test", which he does not pass. Eventually, during the day of the battle, Baki learns that his opponent is Mount Toba, the giant pro wrestler. At the beginning of their fight, Toba has a significant advantage. However, eventually, Baki decides to attack his limbs. Toba uses his best body drop technique, but that's not enough to beat Baki.

Now unlike many, the
fact that the original adaptation didn't follow the manga for much of its run was something that I wasn't overly concerned about, and there's a very good reason for this too. One of the issues I had with the manga, and in turn Brotherhood, was the fact that the tale is far more "shounen" than the original adaptation, and this difference in not only plot and story content, but overall perspective as well, is noticeable in a number of areas.
As far as pacing, plot, and depth of story goes, Full Metal Alchemist does lose out somewhat to Brotherhood, however this is partly due to the fact that Arakawa Hiromu had far more time to produce a story that worked, whereas the writers for the original adaptation only had part of Arakawa's work to play with, and had to make up the rest.
Normally this would be the cause for a number of issues, not the least of which is continuity, however Full Metal Alchemist never really suffered from those except where the numerous, and unnecessary,
comedy moments were included. That said, what the writers achieved was actually quite remarkable, as they produced a tale that is very clearly about one thing only - obsession - and in that respect, they actually managed to score quite a major coup over Arakawa's tale.

their school's marathon. The two of them easily race past the rest of their class, but on the way back, Tomo collapses from exhaustion, revealing that she also ran for hours the night before. Junichiro carries her piggyback style to the school nurse, where Misuzu suggests that she should take advantage to appear more vulnerable to Junichiro. Tomo eventually convinces Junichiro to carry her again so her mother can
drives her to the hospital. When Junichiro later visits Tomo, she gives him back his handheld from years ago, claiming that he finally caught up to her in physical prowess. Junichiro flashes back to his middle school days, reminiscing about his relationship with both Tomo and Misuzu.
