The series follows teenage Tanjiro Kamado, who strives to become a Demon Slayer after his family was slaughtered and his younger sister, Nezuko, is turned into a demon. It premiered on April 6, 2019. It has aired on Tokyo MX, GTV, GYT, BS11 (first season only) and Fuji TV (second season onwards). In North America, the series has been licensed by Aniplex of America and is streamed on Crunchyroll, Hulu, and Funimation. The English dub of Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba was aired on Adult Swim's Toonami programming block in the United States. A sequel film set after the events of the first season, Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – The Movie: Mugen Train, was released in October 2020 while the compilation films, Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – To the Swordsmith Village and Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – To the Hashira Training, were released in February 2023 and February 2024, respectively. Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba received critical acclaim for its storyline, animation, action sequences, characters and voice acting (original and dubbed). The series has received numerous awards and is considered one of the best anime of the 2010s.
