Tsugaru Shinuchi, an experimental half-oni known as the Oni Slayer, accepts a job from an immortal woman named Aya Rindo with her loyal servant Shizuku Hasei. Tsugaru wishes to find a way to extend his lifespan, while Aya exists solely as a talking head who wants to die. When they both realize the person behind their current predicament was a wealthy foreigner with an "M" printed on his cane, they leave Japan for Europe and try to track him down. While trying to locate Aya's missing body and hopefully their target with it, the trio take on supernatural mysteries across Europe with Tsugaru taking on the persona of "The Cage User" for the birdcage he carries with Aya's head inside. Characters[edit] The Cage User[edit] Aya Rindo (輪堂 鴉夜, Rindō Aya) Voiced by: Tomoyo Kurosawa[2] A young Heian era woman and a yōkai, who is beheaded by an unknown half-demon assailant from Britain and has her headless body taken away. Since she is a demon, she cannot die (though being decapitated by a half-demon means she cannot heal herself) and thus her head continues to live on, ultimately seeking support from Tsugaru to get her body back and take revenge on the man who left her like this.

Anyone who knows me knows I’ve been pushing the 86 agenda on Twitter and facebook for years. Part of that agenda was an OST by Sawano Hiroyuki. I could not imagine the world of 86 being animated without an OST from the GOAT himself. Sawano has done the OST for several aniplex mech series so it’s not really a shock that he hopped on 86, but bringing his kouhai Yamamoto Kohta onboard was a pleasant surprise. As you’d expect, the two of them SNAPPED on every track featured in the anime. Both EDs are amazing and several inserts like “The Answer” are on repeat on my phone daily. Could not ask for more.
In closing, 86 has been my favourite Light Novel series for years, and at this point it’s probably safe to say the anime is now my favourite anime series. A-1 put together an all star team of talent to work on this show, took their time and gave us something really special. Even if you don’t normally like mech or science-fiction anime, 86 is well worth a viewing due to the amazing handling of real life themes. Bred for the sole purpose of piloting these machines, these children know nothing of the outside world and are only able to prove their existence by defending their race.
Hiro, an aspiring FranXX pilot, has lost his motivation and self-confidence after failing an aptitude test. Skipping out on his class' graduation ceremony, Hiro retreats to a forest lake, where he encounters a mysterious girl with two horns growing out of her head. She introduces herself by her codename Zero Two, which is known to belong to an infamous FranXX pilot known as the "Partner Killer. " Before Hiro can digest the encounter, the Plantation is rocked by a sudden Klaxosaur attack. Zero Two engages the creature in her FranXX, but it is heavily damaged in the skirmish and crashes near Hiro. Finding her partner dead, Zero Two invites Hiro to pilot the mecha with her, and the duo easily defeats the Klaxosaur in the ensuing fight. With a new partner by his side, Hiro has been given a chance at redemption for his past failures, but at what cost?
