(Japanese: トモちゃんは女の子!, Hepburn: Tomo-chan wa Onnanoko!) is a Japanese four-panel manga series written and illustrated by Fumita Yanagida. It was serialized on the Twi4 Twitter account and Saizensen website, usually as a single-page four-panel strip, from April 2015 to July 2019. Kodansha published in eight tankōbon volumes. An anime television series adaptation produced by Lay-duce aired from January to March 2023 and is co-produced by Crunchyroll with distribution outside of East Asia, with an English dub that premiered in the same day. The manga follows the everyday life of tomboy high-school student Tomo who is in love with her childhood friend, Junichiro, who only treats her as a boy, and her attempts to make him reciprocate her unrequited love. Plot[edit] Tomo Aizawa is a tomboy who has been head-over-heels in love with her childhood best friend Junichiro Kubota for a long time, even though he only sees her as "one of the boys" and has no romantic feelings for her at all. Hilarity ensues when she tries many times in vain to win his heart, but almost always fails and even ends up getting physical at times.

In desperation, she attempts to regain her father's throne, but her foolhardiness makes her goal unachievable. Inspired by the girl's motivation and passion, Sora and Shiro decide to aid Stephanie in getting Elkia back on its feet, ultimately aiming to become the new rulers of the enigmatic realm. With this anime, it's hard to care about anything that happens because there is none of that. No real virtues being stood up for, nothing gained from watching besides maybe epiliptic shock from the flashy visual effects. No philosophy. And at the end of the day, making a statement is what makes a piece of art. This anime really doesn't do that, it feels like it has nothing to say. It feels like a kid trying to copy his sucessful older brothers even though he has no life experience to draw from. And that's ultimately this anime's biggest failing. In short this anime is garbage, and not worth your time. It once again proves that Shounen Anime have no other goals than to appeal to the widest majority of their audience with hype culture pandering, quirks with no substance, genetically engineered pop-appeal, fake early-introduced emotional stakes, and standing up for basically no specific theme besides shallow virtue.
