Bonney allows the Revolutionaries to take Kuma with them while she will head to Egghead to talk to Vegapunk about reversing her father's condition. Sabo finds the keys to the slaves' exploding collars and hands them over to Karasu. Sabo overhears some guards speaking about a room known as "The Lost Chamber". According to one of the guards, those who look into this chamber tend to mysteriously disappear. Charlos manages to restrain Shirahoshi with Kuma's assistance. Kuma attacks the Ryugu Kingdom's princes. Mjosgard gives Sai and Leo permission to attack Charlos while ordering the Ryugu Kingdom princes to stand down. Sai and Leo flatten Charlos' head, which was later reported as an attempted murder plot. Morley and Karasu manage to snatch Kuma away. King Cobra has his audience with the Five Elders. He wants to know the mystery of what happened to his ancestor Lili who was one of the 20 monarchs that founded the World Government, but disappeared after its foundation with no record of her name. If the one-off characters were more interesting and varied, or if the protagonists were more engaging, this wouldn’t be a big deal.
Another major issue is how none of the side stories leave any real impact on our main duo. The only thing of note in most of these is how Hyakkimaru gets his body parts back. They did have an arc where Hyakkimaru had to deal with the shock of having ears again, forcing him to slowly and painfully adjust to the act of hearing. Had the series explored that concept with his other body parts and spaced them out better to allow for said exploration, I likely would have cared about Hyakkimaru a lot more. Sadly, at most, we get one-off lines about the differences in what he can do with his swords, only for him to still do the same things he always did, but with one less sword limb or with longer reach.

There are many great sports anime that escaoe the shounen/spokkon formula like Ashita no Joe or many others that try to deconstruct it like Ping Pong the animation or Blue lock with great results. As well, there are other good ones following this structure without that many twists (Haikyuu, Kuroko no Basket.
