Unlike other popular shows in the genre, where even an 8-year-old kid can easily see how the anime would end after watching just the first two episodes of it and the whole journey feels about as exciting as watching a download bar fill from 0 to 100%, each episode in Jigokuraku is a unique experience and leaves you wondering where the next one would lead you. The anime also does not make the same mistakes as other big shows like Game of Thrones or Attack on Titan by overhyping people through unnecessary foreshadowing and suspense that are bound to end in disappointment later on. The story builds up tension steadily and effectively, with each plot shift either living up to or exceeding the viewers' expectations, and the bizarre setting and world-building brought to life by MAPPA's exceptional work only contribute to the whole magical experience that is Jigokuraku.
The characters may initially appear as one-dimensional, but quickly undergo a captivating transformation, gaining depth and complexity as the story unfolds. More importantly, Jigokuraku features one of the best and most respectable female protagonists I have seen in anime so far, despite the fact that it takes place during the Edo period in a heavily patriarchal and androcentric society. The show also touches on various far-eastern religious and philosophical concepts without wasting time with unnecessary details or trying too hard to impress the viewer by presenting things in an overcomplicated way.

Once this work, Kosuke finally reveals his love for Carol to Misuzu, explaining he has been unable to tell her due to having never seen her vulnerable. To help him, Misuzu makes some painful comments regarding Kosuke's interest for her to Carol, making her flee the school, crying. Realizing her mistake, Misuzu sends Kosuke to Carol's home. There, he tells Carol about Misuzu's lie, and finally confesses his love. Delighted, she accepts Kosuke's confession, and her mother trusts Carol to him after he promises she will not change the way she is as she now has friends. The next day, Carol gets back at Misuzu by scaring her.

Synopsis Setting See also: List of One Piece characters The globe of the One Piece world The world of One Piece is populated by humans and other races such as dwarves (more akin to faeries in size), giants, merfolk, fish-men, long-limbed tribes, long-necked people known as the Snakeneck Tribe, and animal people (known as "Minks"). The world is governed by an intercontinental organization known as the World Government, consisting of dozens of member countries. The Navy is the sea military branch of the World Government that protects the known seas from pirates and other criminals. There is also Cipher Pol which is a group of agencies within the World Government that are their secret police. While pirates are major opponents against the Government, the ones who really challenge their rule are the Revolutionary Army who seeks to overthrow them. The central tension of the series pits the World Government and their forces against pirates. The series regularly emphasizes moral ambiguity over the label "pirate", which includes cruel villains, but also any individuals that do not submit to the World Government's authoritarian—and often morally ambiguous—rule. The One Piece world also has supernormal characteristics like Devil Fruits,[Jp 1] which are mysterious fruits that grant whoever eats them transformative powers. Another supernatural power is Haki,[Jp 2] which grants its users enhanced willpower, observation, and fighting abilities, and it is one of the only effective methods of inflicting bodily harm on certain Devil Fruit users. The world itself consists of two vast oceans divided by a massive mountain range called the Red Line. [Jp 3] Within the oceans is a second global phenomenon known as the Grand Line,[Jp 4] which is a sea that runs perpendicular to the Red Line and is bounded by the Calm Belt,[Jp 5] strips of calm ocean infested with huge ship-eating monsters known as Sea Kings.
