2 million in the United States. [36][57][58] Although Streamline was not involved in its production, this version became known as the "Streamline dub". After Pioneer Entertainment acquired the rights to the film, a new English dub was produced by Animaze and directed by Kevin Seymour in 2001 for the DVD release to obtain THX certification. [59][60][61][62] Pioneer re-released the film with the new dub in select theaters from March through December 2001, making it the 20th digital cinema release in North America. [63] The restored 4K version was shown in North American movie theaters on September 24, 2020, and for multiple days in select IMAX auditoriums and other cinemas worldwide. [64][65] In the United Kingdom, Akira was theatrically released by Island Visual Arts on January 25, 1991. Keisuke Hirose (広瀬 啓祐, Hirose Keisuke) Shoya's other best friend in elementary school who often goes alongside him in his "life-challenging activities". Like Shimada, Hirose cuts ties with Shoya after Shouko's transfer. Hirose stays close with Shimada (and possibly Ueno as well) after graduation and, along with him, brings Shoya from a river after he falls down from saving Shouko. Takeuchi (竹内) Shoya's teacher at elementary school. He is a shallow man who finds Shouko's presence in the school unfair to the other pupils. While he is disappointed in Shoya for bullying Shouko, he still laughs at the jokes made about her. After her transfer, he supports the class to turn Shoya into a scapegoat and refuses to believe him when he claims he is being bullied too. Years later, Shoya runs into Takeuchi again when looking for locations for the film. Takeuchi says that Shoya has grown into a fine young man and all the bad things in his past have changed Shoya for the better. Mashiba dislikes how Takeuchi talks about Shouko and throws his drink into Takeuchi's face, costing them the chance to film at the school, though with Shoya's later hospitalization and Mashiba's apology to him, Takeuchi allows them to shoot anyway. Kita (喜多) Shoya's music teacher in elementary school. HBO Max With over 10,000 hours (and growing!) of material, HBO Max does not skimp on anime entertainment. In the pictures, there was art of people playing volleyball. As a former volleyball player myself, I had the investigate. There I stumbled upon the manga for the show. It was done basic Shonen style. I'm not saying that's annoying but it's too common.
