Chad Okada: The Game Lord Speaks If you ever happened upon one of SNK's multipage advertisements during the early 1990s, and especially if you actually owned a NeoGeo AES console, chances are, you know of the Game Lord. He was the guy in the ads who told you what games were hot for the NeoGeo, gave you tips on how to beat many of those tough bosses, and generally put a down-to-earth spin on the "Bigger, Badder, Better" message that SNK of America was trying to get across. In reality, the Game Lord was an actual person, just like you or me. His name was Chad Okada. Multipage NeoGeo ads appeared in many magazines. Chad acted as the Game Lord in his regular "Game Lord Speaks" column. Okada started out as a game counselor for SNK Home Entertainment in 1991 and was elevated to the role of PR spokesperson later that year when the "Bigger, Badder, Better" ad blitz was launched. His tenure at SNK lasted until March 1996, when the company scaled back its consumer division and no longer needed the services of a resident Game Lord. Subsequent to his employment at SNK, Okada went on to work at Sony and then Electronic Arts as a producer responsible for much of the behind-the-scenes work that's involved in bringing video games into your living room. Today, Chad Okada continues to work in the game industry and to carry on his moniker as the Game Lord. He also runs a Web site, called Gamelord. Despite the hatred the have for each other, the two are very similar, which they both acknowledge. They're both Commoners, they both seek for equality between Nobels and Commoners, even if their reasons and methods for doing so are completely opposite (Desir seeks to prepare for the Shadow Labyrinth while Crow Mask has an intense hatred for Nobels and how Commoners are treated by them), and they are both willing to do whatever they have to to achieve their goals. Desir's hatred for Crow Mask and all Outsiders increase exponentially when a dear friend from his past life, Aaron, is turned into a Homunculus and he's forced to kill him. After Desir defeats him, Crow Mask then comes to realize that Desir had achieved his goals for wanting equality for Commoners and Nobels.
