It was a pleasant surprise to see these young actors who don't have much experience as leads under their belts - yet they carried the story so effortlessly. So much so that I completely bought the story about life in the world of comic books.
The main characters' side swipes at the overused tropes of romantic dramas were what got me hooked in the beginning, but it was the heartfelt acting - especially from our two leads, that kept me going.
I felt every smile, every tear, every fear that went through their faces. And I prayed as hard as they did to writer-nim to please make this a happy ending.
Yes, it's not perfect, there were some threads left hanging and some sub-plots that were too conveniently solved.

The decision to use a model as an alternate side to her personality I felt was a good move as models in addition to showcasing products can also serve to help other people by their modelling as well. I felt that Mao Ichimichi did an excellent job in portraying the character of Airi.
AMV (Animation &Arts/Music and Voice)
In terms of art I felt that the design of the school and its attendant facilities was done pretty well and indeed the school did give the feel of being similar to a small town or outlet rather than a high school. The uniform designs for the school I felt were also well designed and looked pretty smart as well. Character design I felt was also pretty good with each character being unique and well designed. In terms of animation I felt that animation was clear and beautifully detailed. In terms of music I felt that the series had a pretty good opening and ending themes with the ending being particularly strong. Voice acting for the series I felt was superb with Kiyotaka’s voice actor Shouya Chiba and Suzune’s seiyuu Akari Kito deserving particular praise for their portrayal of their respective characters.
Overall conclusion
Overall Youkoso was an interesting anime that had as its main strengths an interesting premise, story, characters and the underlying themes of society that it tries to address. The main premise of this show is of course the prestigious high school that the main characters attend in the story. The school while seemingly perfect both in terms of facilities and reputation is only a facade for within it hides a very strict school system where a student’s performance in their studies and exams determine their worth to both the school and to society.

His relationship with his father is very ambiguous and sad. Baki almost always speaks about him with great reluctance and anger. At the same time, it can be seen that Baki is not indifferent about what Yuujirou thinks about him. Although they are even deadly enemies, Baki and Yuujirou can play as a team when needed (just like during Great Chinese Tournament). They both never say it directly, but they feel a strange family connection between them, even if Baki sometimes calls his father by his name. This can be seen when Baki invites him to dinner or when they suddenly start to play a scene where they both pretend to eat an imaginary meal together during their battle. Baki and Yuujirou seem to have strong emotions for each other, although those feelings are not typically family. The deeper psychological aspect of their confusing relationship is best shown during their final fight in the third manga series. Also, even though he wants to defeat his father, Baki respects Yuujirou's strength, openly acknowledging him as the most powerful creature in the world. Rumina Ayukawa pointed out that despite he considers Yuujirou his enemy, they way Baki describes his father's strength suggests that he somewhat admires him. He eventually develops the demon face on his back when fighting his brother, but only for a fleeting moment.
