This, this pseudo-thrilling shithousery is Blue Lock to me.The start of Blue Lock was actually bearable, dare I even say interesting. Seriously, it’s a good concept on paper. A bunch of ambitious teenagers vying for a chance to become Japan’s national team striker through a rigorous and ruthless training regime with one person remaining. Or that’s what it seemed at the start, until you realize that no characters introduced get eliminated. Or the absurdity of fielding a striker in goal could ever yield effective practice for anyone involved. But I understand there should be an expected level of plot armoring and suspension of disbelief afforded when it comes to these shows so I will give it some leeway. Instead, this review will focus more so on the myriad of reasons why this show doesn’t even work in an entertaining sense. It’s just not fair. If you were starved of football content as an anime fan, I’d recommend watching the 2022 World Cup instead of watching this 24 episode choppy passion-devoid mess. That was a real treasure to behold. Using Ui Ui and her crows as a distraction, she is able to catch the curse off guard and defeat it, freeing them from the domain and ready to fight Pseudo-Geto. Elsewhere, Nanami convenes with Maki and Naobito, informing them of Gojo's concealment. They encounter the cursed spirit Dagon, who reveals itself to have been a curse womb, evolving to a significantly stronger state. Naobito uses his cursed technique, Projection Sorcery, to put up a good fight, until Dagon activates his Domain Expansion, trapping the three in his Domain. Nanami and Naobito are consumed by a hoard of shikigami, while Maki barely avoids it. Megumi enters the Domain and starts a domain clash in an effort to keep Dagon distracted. Nanami and Naobito survive their pile-ups, and Megumi reveals he's discovered the exit to the Domain, which they are about to use to escape.
