Ippo had trouble with this tactic until Kamogawa yelled to watch Gedo's feet, successfully hitting him in the body once he tracked where he would go from looking at his feet. The first round then ended shortly after. Ippo getting hit by a right uppercut. In the second round, just when Ippo began to gauge Gedo's punching range and figured out his trick from the first round, he was hit outside Gedo's punching range, thinking his arm just extended. He continued to be unable to get close to Gedo, getting thrown off by his lefts that are hitting him outside of Gedo's range until the second round ended.
