Square taking inspiration from Times Square and featuring a DJ/rapper duo modeled after Tupac Shakur and The Notorious B. I. G. Star Fox takes cues from Western cartoon animals and space operas. The fuzzy puppets featured in art for the first game and the puppet like mouth face flapping for dialogue in Star Fox 64 was designed to invoke Thunderbirds, though nowadays it just looks like it was animated that way due to console limitations. blatantly Western that the developers even went out of their way to make many references to American history and pop culture. Star Tropics' very western design was practically intended by Nintendo, as the Star Tropics games were designed to capitalize on the Western markets, and were not released in Japan. The Super Mario Bros. series looks like it is firmly planted in the roots of the The Golden Age of Animation in terms of design.
