She also likes to slather her food in honey and shove it down her “darling’s” mouth. Speaking of which, I’m not sure what’s worse: Yuno, from Mirai Nikki, saying “Yuki”, or Zero Two saying “darling. ” They are both excruciating to the eardrums. Her “darling,” Hiro, is your typical mundane protagonist, lacking identifying characteristics that would engage the viewer and become interested in his plight towards becoming a FranXX pilot. He is, however, infatuated with Zero Two to the point of feeling dead inside without her presence (get over it dude, your like, 14?)
The rest of the cast, unfortunately, is a compilation of tired tropes that have been utilized time and time again. In fact, I can’t remember any of their names, so I won’t waste your time, and mine, looking them up just to explain how trivial their roles really are. Suffice it to say, the cast is a representation of the anime staff’s laziness, but considering this show has a higher rating than the reboot of Ginga Eiyuu Densetsu (which has an excellent cast of characters), it should come as no surprise why anime writers continue to shove monotonous characters down our throats ad infinitum.
I don’t want to sound too presumptuous, but this may be the worst anime I have ever seen in my life — or, at the very least, it’s in the running. As it stands, the current list of the worst anime goes as follows (in no particular order):
1) Mirai Nikki
2) Sword Art Online
3) Bio Broly
4) Boku no Pico
5) Darling in the FranXX
Considering they copied everything else from Evangelion, it is only fitting to compliment Darling in the FranXX for their crappy achievement.

Hybrid Magic System Desir is able to combine portions of Draconic spell casting and normal spell casting to create powerful spells and effects allowing him to use power well beyond his tier. However the system is still new as he just invented it after analyzing Crow Mask's tesseract artifact with combines hundreds of smaller spells to create effects equivalent to several tiers higher compared to the component spells. Currently, it uses too much power and ideally it should only be used as a last resort or trump card. The upside it that it lacks the permanent toll exacted by dragon magic when mortals use it. Desir was inspired by a divination magic ritual performed by travelers he and Ajest visited, which used a ritual system and music to cast the spell of prophecy. Desir thanked them as he now knew the direction he needed to head in to continue to improve his hybrid spell system. Battle Sense Desir has always been weaker than most of his opponents. Yet he survived all the way to the end of the Shadow Labyrinth. Everything he has experienced has culminated inside of him an incredible battle sense where he uses wits and tactics to take control of every battle he is in. In this way, he was able to fight on par against the Third Circle Magic Swordsman Ajest and against the Sixth Circle Crow Mask and still defeat them. Lin arrives at Cassandra along with Bat and Rei, where they witness Raoh's army marching through the streets. Lin sees Yuria being held by Raoh's men during the parade and decides to break into Raoh's dungeon later that night with Bat. The two meet Yuria in her cell and leave her with a plant grown from a seed Yuria gave to Ken before leaving. The plant catches Raoh's attention and Yuria is immediately sentenced to a public execution the following morning. Rei challenges Raoh, but he proves to be no match for him. Ken rushes to Cassandra, but arrives too late to stop Raoh from inflicting a mortal wound on Rei. After Rei dies, Kenshiro and Raoh unleash their full fighting aura to battle each other, destroying most of Cassandra in the process and leaving both substantially injured. With the two exhausted of all their power and strength, Raoh manages to knock Ken unconscious. However, before Raoh can deliver the finishing blow, Lin interrupts the fight and implores him to spare Ken's life. Raoh agrees to Lin's request and walks away, swearing to postpone the battle for another day. Ken leaves Lin and Bat, and continues his search for Yuria, who mysteriously vanished during the final battle. In range, Ippo began the Dempsey Roll motion. Before Ippo could even start to throw a punch, he was effortlessly hit repeatedly by Ricardo's lefts until the figure-eight motion stopped and left Ippo standing unconscious and frozen in shock. Noticing Ippo was unconscious, Ricardo walked away and stopped the spar. Kamogawa got Ippo, still unconscious, out of the ring and the two leave the Otowa gym with Ippo realising that the gap between him and the world was huge. Back at his home, Ippo looked into a mirror his face and was shocked on how swollen it looked after Ricardo only used his left. When Ippo returned to the gym, he got immediately kicked out by Takamura, who told him to go see Date and apologise for his performance in the spar.
