Regrouping with Team 7, Boruto told them of what occurred at the prison, and that the airship attack at the event was a diversion. Concerned for Team 5 who were who was in a mission in seas that the Funato was taking over, Team 7 procured a boat, and were joined by Kagura and his team of Buntan Kurosuki, Hebiichigo, and Kyohō Fuefuki Upon arriving at Dotō Island, Sarada and Mitsuki infiltrated the island. While waiting, a mobile fortress approached them, leading to Kagura instructing Boruto to investigate it along Buntan and Kawaki. In doing so, they discovered a massive, long-range, scientific ninja tool weapon. Boruto managed to radio Kagura and warned him about the Chakra Cannon, and in turn learned that Sarada's group going to their rendezvous would put them on the fortress's path. He decided they'd have to destroy the cannon themselves. Soon joined by Kagura's group, they were attacked by Tenma Funato, during which Boruto managed to use a crane to divert the cannon into destroying the fortress instead of the ship that Boruto's peers and Dotō Island's residents were onboard. Having escaped on a lifeboat, the two group reunited.
