#1. 1)User reviews18ReviewReviewFeatured review9/10 Drifted straight into my heart! What an amazing Anime, Great characters, great story, great voice talents and completely unique animation blending 2D and 3D elements; it's really neat. "Initial D : First stage" is everything that a first season should be, it introduces all the main characters, you watch the main character Takumi develop as the season progresses. the racing is obviously a highlight, using the aforementioned 3D animation, the fast paced movement, the heavy hum of the engines, the pulsing euro-beats in the back ground, IT'S TO DIE FOR! This is one great Anime, whether or not you like cars or even Anime in general, it's worth it just for the story and the memes. but nothing is perfect, so It's still getting 9 out of 10 stars. helpful•61josuethehobbitSep 30, 2019Top picksSign in to rate and Watchlist for personalized recommendationsSign inFAQ16How many seasons does Initial D: First Stage have?Powered by AlexaDetailsEditRelease dateApril 18, 1998 (Japan)Country of originJapanLanguageJapaneseAlso known asInitial DProduction companyPrime DirectionSee more company credits at IMDbProTechnical specsEditRuntime25 minutesColorColorSound mixDolby DigitalRelated newsContribute to this pageSuggest an edit or add missing contentTop GapWhat is the Japanese language plot outline for Initial D: First Stage (1998)?AnswerSee more gapsLearn more about contributingEdit pageAdd episodeMore to exploreListStaff Picks: What to Watch in MarchSee the listListIMDb Staff's 2024 Oscar PredictionsSee our predictionsListHillary's 6 Picks for March and BeyondSee the full listRecently viewedYou have no recently viewed pagesGet the IMDb AppSign in for more accessSign in for more accessGet the IMDb AppHelpSite IndexIMDbProBox Office MojoIMDb DeveloperPress RoomAdvertisingJobsConditions of UsePrivacy PolicyYour Ads Privacy ChoicesIMDb, an Amazon company© 1990-2024 by IMDb.

After some time it just becomes like: ah this guy died too. Okay next
I will explore the characters a bit:
Tenma:
Through the whole story Tenma wanders around here and there doing absolutely nothing other than making a serious face and showing himself resolved. You could feel something is wrong if the "main" character does nothing other than being in minor and filler plots helping random characters. Can anyone recall Tenma doing something that affects the story other than saving Johan in the beginning?
Johan:
Johan doesn't do anything at all either. He is just the absolute evil with a mysterious past and he makes others do the things he wants by only existing. We have no idea what powers he has and how he managed to get so many lackeys.

The rest of the characters aren't really that memorable. Falling into the more mundane style of being a cast of characters. Animal lover 69 was fun to watch but overall none of the characters really had any stand out moments so despite being part of the main cast they felt like they belonged in the background.
There really isn't much else to talk about here.
[151][152] By 1997, Japanese anime was the fastest-growing genre in the American video industry. [153] The growth of the Internet later provided international audiences with an easy way to access Japanese content. [116] Early on, online piracy played a major role in this, through over time many legal alternatives appeared. Since the 2010s various streaming services have become increasingly involved in the production and licensing of anime for the international markets. [154][155] This is especially the case with net services such as Netflix and Crunchyroll which have large catalogs in Western countries, although as of 2020 anime fans in many developing non-Western countries, such as India and Philippines, have fewer options for obtaining access to legal content, and therefore still turn to online piracy. [156][157] However beginning with the 2020s anime has been experiencing yet another boom in global popularity and demand due to the COVID-19 pandemic and streaming services like Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, HBO Max, Disney+, Hulu and anime-only services like Crunchyroll and Hidive, increasing the international availability of the amount of new licensed anime shows as well as the size of their catalogs. [158][159][160][161][162] Netflix reported that, between October 2019 and September 2020, more than 100 million member households worldwide had watched at least one anime title on the platform. Anime titles appeared on the streaming platform's top-ten lists in almost 100 countries within the one-year period. [163] As of 2021, anime series are the most demanded foreign-language television shows in the United States accounting for 30. 5% of the market share. (In comparison, Spanish-language and Korean-language shows account for 21% and 11% of the market share, respectively.
