Pour ceux qui ne connaissent pas l'histoire, on suit Mao Mao, jeune femme élevé par un vieil apothicaire excentrique et des courtisanes dans sa vie au palais impérial où elle atterri suite à un enlèvement. L'ambiance retranscrit du monde impérial est superbe, les personnages sont attachants et bien construits. le livre traite de sujet parfois compliqué en rapport à un monde d'une autre époque, pourtant la lecture reste "légère" et l'humour ne s'en va jamais très longtemps.
On est mené du début à la fin par la plume de l'écrivain (pour nous, Laureline Chaplain et Ombeline Marchon les traductrices, ne pas oublier que ce sont elles qui choisissent les mots pour nous retranscrire l'histoire) qui nous amène seulement là où il en a envie.
Je ne peux que vous conseiller cette lecture que j'ai grandement apprécié tout du long.
