When Sakuta calms down, Shoko departs, but later returns and declares that she will be living in Sakuta's house for a period of time, much to the dismay of Mai. It is later revealed that there are 2 versions of Shoko in their timeline, and that the older version only exists because Sakuta will die in a car accident on Christmas day, resulting in his heart being donated to Shoko, allowing her to continue living, hence the reason behind Sakuta's scars. When Mai sacrifices herself to save Sakuta from the accident, Shoko helps Sakuta travel back in time to fix his mistake and save Mai. She also travels back to her elementary school timeline to mend the problem causing her Adolescence Syndrome, creating an alternate timeline where Sakuta and Mai
never meet Shoko. They later reconcile when Sakuta sees Shoko by the beach and remembers all the memories the two of them shared from the previous timeline. Supporting[edit] Yūma Kunimi (国見 佑真, Kunimi Yūma)

The next experiment involved traversing with a candle whose flame was connected to their lives, which could be stolen. Through cooperation, Boruto was able to lead most other captives through the experiment, although
some perished as a
result of their candles melting down. When they reached a slow moving elevator, the group deduced that Ōga intended them to steal each other's candle to last through its ascent. Recalling the rules of how the candles worked, Boruto had the remaining captives with him combine what remained of their candles into a single, long-lasting candle shared by all, which allowed them all to survive the elevator ride. After reaching their destination, Boruto's group met up with Rokuro's group, who had sacrificed some of its members to steal their candles. Despite despising Ōga, he conceded that Ōga stood by his rules. Before the next experiment, the group discussed their dreams, Boruto sharing his of emulating his teacher. When the experiment began, in a room with a collapsing ceiling, Boruto noticed how switches around the room affect the room and ceiling, and argues how Ōga expected them to act. One of them caused alcoves to appear, Boruto allowing Yatsume to take one in gratitude for saving him in the first experiment and because she injured herself trying to stop the ceiling. When he had to put out Kiseru's Fire Release with his Water Release, he noticed the water draining, and attempted to break through the space under the floor. He convinced Batta to act against Ōga's expectation, and she found a weak spot on the floor where his attack would work better.
