Upon arrival outside the Tōhō gym, Ippo was reluctant on going in until Itagaki, who was asked by Kamogawa to make sure Ippo doesn't do anything stupid, arrived. Ippo and Itagaki enter the gym and the latter explained to the Tōhō coach that Ippo has arrived to spar against Mashiba, shocking the coach.
