Later, the cosmic object reveals itself to be a probe which transmits information to a group of space criminals led by the low-class Saiyan Turles (who bears a striking resemblance to Goku). The pirates arrive on Earth to plant the Tree of Might, a plant that sucks the life of the planet on which it's planted and leaves it a desert.
