At times, Monsters almost feels like the One Piece that never was, and as a massive fan of the series, I appreciate that. It’s also great to see Oda’s art style adapted by a studio other than Toei (If I remember correctly, this is only the
time in the history of the franchise.
by William (SpaceTree Studios) ★★★ 1 you can tell this is canon to One Piece because the first thing the main character does is get thrown out on his ass for trying to get free foodyou can also tell that this is based on a one-shot, it's only 30 minutes and feels like they have to rush into the plot with little set-up. We don't get to see much of who Ryuma is as a person other than he hungry and he good at sword. Which, fair for a one-shot in the 90s that pre-dates the author's most well known creation (I. E. the best selling manga and 2nd best selling overall comic of all-time) and just needs to be a quick one-off fun thing for.
Made in Abyss provides just that.

Oct 1, 2017 wayver Mixed Feelings I am only writing this review in light of the fact that other reviewers are giving the show 9 or 10 across the board.
Made in Abyss has some good things going for it, which I will mention at the end of this review, but it also has some very serious problems.
The pace of the story is erratic and generally sluggish, the characters do not behave in sensible ways, characters are developed for an episode or two and then abandoned, the logic of the world is
arbitrary, and the story brings up concept after concept in an intriguing manner, but never bothers to .
