Before leaving,
Boruto went to check on Ikada, but Kajiki revealed he was missing, even finding his abandoned journal. Kagura took them to his childhood village, which was on the
route the Funato forces were taking, hoping to intercept them. Boruto was assigned to fortifying the village's defences.
While updating Kagura on the progress, he asked about his past in the village, and listened to why Kagura cherished it. When fortifications were done by nighttime, Boruto felt ready to fight the Funato. The next day, they learned the Funato had sent scouts ahead. While most of the villagers were evacuated, three children were missing, including one with Kawaki's Konoha forehead protector, which would expose their presence. Boruto joined Kagura in retrieving them before they crossed paths with the scouts. Upon their returned, they learned that Hebiichigo had deserted the group after Kagura removed the swordsmen's cursed seal. He supported Kagura's decision of letting Buntan and Kyohō go after her. As the group finished preparing their traps in the ravine, Boruto remained hopeful about Hebiichigo.

He enlists the help of a group of loan sharks, to whom he owes money. Under the alias "Paul Sernine", Assane attends an auction for the necklace, hosted by the Pellegrinis at the Louvre. He makes the winning bid, but the loan sharks, disguised as museum security guards, double-cross him and steal the necklace.
The protagonist, Mike Jones, was named after the most common American names at the time (1990).
Star Tropics' very western design was practically intended by Nintendo, as the Star Tropics games were designed to capitalize on the Western markets, and were not released in Japan. The Super Mario Bros. series looks like it is firmly planted in the roots of the The Golden Age of Animation in terms of design. The main characters are plumbers with large noses and moustaches who
speak with a heavy Italian accent; the use of anime tropes in the series is rather rare aside from subtle graphical elements (particularly the facial expressions of characters); and the minimal audible spoken dialogue by any of the characters (in any language) is in English. Some characters take it further, Princess Daisy's dialogue in particular borrows from many different American English dialects and accents, like Valleyspeak, Southern Dixie and Ebonics, and Wario and Waluigi are inspired by a classic American character archetype.
