He refused to apply himself to any of his jobs and would routinely get fired, but chose to blame bad luck over his selfishness. After joining Higurashi's group, Atenbou's bucket list item becomes wanting to forcibly French kiss a girl. During the outbreak, he attempts to do this to Shizuka, but she points out his inability to fear for others and lures Atenbou to where the village elders beat him up, though he survives. Touko Kanbayashi (寒林 陶子, Kanbayashi Tōko) Voiced by: Manaka Iwami[9] (Japanese); Kate Clarke[9] (English) A member of Higurashi's group. She was an office manager who constantly nitpicked and belittled every little thing about where she worked, leading her coworkers to deem her pushy and avoid her. After joining Higurashi's group, Kanbayashi's main bucket list item becomes blowing up her old office building.

Yuujirou recognizes him as his son and the only person who could give him a real fight. Thereafter he makes miso soup from "Shadow Cooking", Baki mentions it is salty and before Yuujirou lies that it isn't. Because he had to lie and couldn't make his lie into truth due to Baki spilling the soup for his father to save face, he declares Baki as the Strongest on Earth. Baki himself gives Yuujirou the victory because Yuujirou was able to withstand his attacks and could have beaten him confidently, evidenced by the fact that Baki was only barely holding himself together, while Yuujirou had sustained minimal injuries, and the match ends with Yuujirou essentially sharing the title of Worlds Strongest, as because although he had won the physical brawl, it didn't sit right with him to declare himself on another level above Baki anymore, as he had needed to try more than he ever had to in the past. Abilities[] Baki's strength is constantly growing throughout the series. Baki's initial introduction at the very beginning of the series, 17-year-old Baki was already the champion of the Tokyo Underground Dome. In the beginning, Baki was shown to bench press over 320 lbs when training. At first, Baki was shown to be on the same level as Mount Toba, a wrestler who was shown to be strong enough to easily defeat Junichi Hanada and crush his bike in the process. 17-year-old Baki's strength grew more, until he was strong enough to face Kureha Shinogi, and defeat him. As Baki's never stops getting stronger throughout the series, it is difficult to set a definitive level to his strength. At the start of the anime, Baki at age 13, was able to defeat 37 of 100 thugs by himself.

The characters arbitrarily doing stupid things for the sake of the plot in the second half, such as Dororo randomly falling for a trap door in a seemingly abandoned shack in episode 15 despite her being a trickster character who would never be this gullible, or Hyakkimaru not even thinking to chisel the rock trapping Dororo’s arm to free her as she’s drowning in episode 20. The old man conveniently shows up as a deus ex machina, and his first instinct is to chisel the rock and that lets Dororo get out of there, making this problem all the more aggravating. In the second half of the show, Hyakkimaru somehow knows where an important character is and tracks them down offscreen, not once, but twice despite there being nothing presented to the audience or to Hyakkimaru himself that could feasibly allow him to track them down. In episode 15, a village is consumed by fire and it’s blamed on an underground oil spill reacting to a moth demon randomly crashing onto a watch tower with a torch which subsequently exploded, except there’s no way it could have affected the oil in order to cause the fire to consume the village. The show also constantly beats you over the head regarding how tragic things are, and it often has the narrator or character reiterating what they’re doing. Apart from one spoiler-heavy moment a bunch of characters could have easily avoided if they had any sense of urgency, these are the only real big issues I can think of regarding issues with bad writing. The episodic narratives are generally fine enough on their own. It’s just that most of them feel rather samey and end up not mattering. The overarching narrative, despite being on autopilot, isn’t necessarily badly written either. It’s just unengaging thanks to the main character arc that drives the plot not being handled well and the characters being on autopilot.
That just leaves the music, which is somehow my least favorite part of the show. Meanwhile, in the Corrections Office, Meiko tells Shingo that she will allow him free time outside of school. 7"Meikotouille"
