The plot is very appealing, in the beggining mainly because of the premise, but then it makes you very attached to the characters. Most of the characters present a duality in their personalities, the series shows the viewers how even gang members can be affectionate, have morals and care about their families, and that not everything is what it seems. Another factor of the success of the plot is that every time Takemichi returns to the present, everything is very different, but, at the same time, some incidents never stop happening, no matter how much the past is changed. Due to this, there are many plot twists and mysteries to be solved, which makes you want to watch the next episode right away.
About characters, the protagonist is very controversial in the fandom. Although, I do like Takemichi, opposite to most viewers, I acknowledge his character development could've been improved. This anime has something uncommon, given that the protagonist is not strong, and his fighting skills don't improve significantly over time, which is one of the main reasons to the general dislike towards him. But, in my opinion, whatever the protagonist of "Tokyo Revengers" lacks, characters like Mickey or Draken, make up for it. In my opinion, yes, Takemichi would be more interesting to watch if he was as strong as the others, but, at the same time, that's what makes them stand out, since Takemichi already has a very unique power, time traveling. So, I actually think it makes sense Takemichi is the way he is, because, in the end, he's not a gang member like the others, he's just someone who found himself trapped in that world and adjusts to it realistically. On the other hand, the other characters grew up in those environments, so it makes sense that their individualities are marked by their physical strenght.

It is written from left to right, features typical comic book sound effects in big lettering, and has a sense of humour that is quite cynical and almost mean-spirited, a far cry from the man's typical zaniness. The general style, however, is quite clearly Toriyama's. Dragon Quest: Your Story controversially discarded Akira Toriyama's Signature Style for a more Disneyesque look. Video Games Several Nintendo franchises have a very Western feel and design to them: ARMS has an art style heavily influenced by American superhero comics. Code Name: S. T.
