Just as the runners began deciding that the bells were working, Ippo was jumped on by an animal. When Aoki and Kimura ran in fear back to inform the others that Ippo was attacked by a bear, Ippo came back with a white dog, which Nekota revealed that it was his dog, Hachi. Kamogawa explained what everyone would be doing for their stay for the week, with Kamogawa instructing Ippo to chop logs with an axe. As Ippo did his training, Nekota visited him. Ippo requested his help on how to chop wood properly. Ippo watched in awe as Nekota chopped wood perfectly. Realising that Ippo was training to increase his power, Nekota warned Ippo that power-to-power battles have devastating lasting effects, breaking boxers down by becoming Punch Drunk, telling him how he himself retired because of brain damage and still has effects. Despite the story, Ippo decided that he could not run away from Sendō. Ippo then became curious when Nekota mentioned of a way of punching without punching. After finishing his log training, Ippo went inside the house where Kamogawa began explaining the "Sakki" and how Nekota used it on him while they were boxers. With Ippo not figuring out the difference between Sakki and a regular feint, Takamura decided to show Ippo the difference by sparring with him.
In a way, Metal Slug 4 resembled the first game in the series rather than the last two. Gone were the over-the-top enemies such as the Mars people and killer crabs, and in their place were mainly foot soldiers and other militants. Also gone were the cool slugs that you used in Metal Slug 2 and 3. There weren't any camels to ride, nor were there any planes to hop into. The issue most detractors had with MS4 was that it had half as many levels and alternate pathways as Metal Slug 3, although, to be honest, it was just as lengthy as Metal Slug 1 and 2. Rage of the Dragons (2002, NeoGeo)
The Double Dragon series is an old and revered franchise for old-school gamers. Developer Evoga (with SNK publishing) decided to do a little revival with the series and released Rage of the Dragons in 2002. The catch here was that Atlus owned the rights to the Double Dragon franchise, which Evoga got around by changing character names and giving some characters complete makeovers. Abobo was named Abubo, and Billy and Jimmy Lee looked butched out with their leather and chains. The game had a heavy anime look to it, which was a stark contrast to the grittier-looking games like King of Fighters. At its heart, Rage was a tag-based fighting game, where you and your partner squared off against another team in a duel to the death.
