4. Observing the village as they arrived, they ascertained the hostage situation and Konohamaru's intent, so Boruto distracted Hyōgo and his subordinates long enough for a fog to roll in, allowing them to free the hostages. They joined with Konohamaru, helped repair the village, and returned to the village, where they took one last photo as a team. Later, during a mission to move livestock, the team noticed two suspicious shinobi passing by, specially so as Boruto could smell blood on them. Boruto and Sarada chose to follow them, leaving Mitsuki to complete their mission. They found Shikadai taking care of an injured Chōchō, and they explained how their mission had developed, including how Kawaki went ahead with their client. Boruto and Shikadai went ahead, arriving in time to protect Kawaki from Kurobane after Mozuku had been fatally injured. Mozuku entrusted Kawaki to deliver his medicine, while Boruto held back enemy shinobi. Back at Konoha, Boruto reported to Naruto. He and Mitsuki later visited a recovering Kawaki in the hospital, and expressed concern about whether Kawaki was suited to be a shinobi as they left. Great Sea Battle of Kirigakure Arc[] Main article: Great Sea Battle of Kirigakure Arc Boruto reunites with Kagura. Mon-chan (モンちゃん) A childhood friend of Kenji's whose real name is Masaaki Shimon (子門 真明, Shimon Masaaki). He moved to Germany and became a rugby player before retiring to take care of his ailing mother. After her passing, he started his own business with a partner. Mon-chan survives the event, but prior to this, he was diagnosed with a terminal illness. He is later seen hospitalized in 2002 due to his disease, showing Yukiji the information he has collected while investigating the Friends. Mon-chan suddenly leaves the hospital with no warning and disappears, which is later revealed to have been to contact Sadakiyo in an attempt to investigate further, not knowing Sadakiyo's involvement in the group. Sadakiyo kills him on behalf of the Friends, taking the information he has gathered. Konchi (コンチ) A childhood friend of Kenji's whose real name is Yuichi Konno (今野 裕一, Konno Yūichi). After elementary school, his family moved to Hokkaido and he lost touch with Kenji. Like Keroyon, he chose to ignore Kenji's call to action on Bloody New Year's Eve and regrets doing so.
Wit Studio managed to carry a caliber of high production quality throughout a great deal of this series. The landscapes and Baltic Sea are illustrated with gorgeous visual quality enhanced by its realism. The scenes in some episodes contains elements of photorealism, characteristics that makes this show’s visual quality nothing less than a near masterpiece. There’s a Viking culture that we must quickly adapt to such as the rough clothing, crude ships, and historical weapons. Vehicles are replaced by horses and technology is crafted by the hands of humankind. In essence, this anime retains a beautiful setting but with dark elements of complex storytelling.
With the characters in mind, Thorfinn is the central protagonist as we focus on his rebellious life. During his childhood, he was happier like an ordinary kid before his life changed forever. Now, he carries a vengeful attitude with a rebellious nature while trusting almost no one but himself. He is what I describe as a survivalist, someone who is opportunistic, wild, and unpredictable. He is fundamentally a decent person although some of his actions are questionable throughout the series.
