A second television drama adaptation titled Tomodachi Game R4 aired on TV Asahi from July to September 2022. Premise[edit] Yūichi Katagiri was taught the value of friendship when he was young, and it is thanks to his group of four friends that he is able to enjoy high school life today. When their class's school trip funds are stolen, the five are dragged into the mysterious Tomodachi Game as a result of someone's debt. The friendship of the five will be put to the ultimate test against the promise of wealth there. Characters[edit] Group C[edit] Yūichi Katagiri (片切友一, Katagiri Yūichi) Voiced by: Chiaki Kobayashi[2] (Japanese); David Matranga[3] (English) Portrayed by: Ryo Yoshizawa,[4] Hidaka Ukisho (R4)[5] A seemingly normal high school boy from a poor family background. Like the rest of his friends, he was called out to participate in Tomodachi Game and has his trust in his friends put to the test. As the Game progresses, Yūichi is revealed to possess a vastly different side to himself: one that is ruthless, skilfully manipulative and merciless to his enemies, having an uncanny knack for decoding rules and people's essences. It is also hinted that he has a dark and bloody past, confirmed to have killed at least three people, two of them revealed to be his adopted parents. He opts to participate in the Adult Tomodachi Game and destroy its administration, even though later it was revealed that he was the one to came up with the idea of Tomodachi Game as a child, leading to its creation.

Nobutoshi Canna (future) Ragna (ラグナ, Raguna?) is the main protagonist and one of the titular characters of Ragna Crimson, he was originally a very weak Dragon Hunter who followed the hunter prodigy, Leonica. Not wanting to be a burden for her, Ragna secretly trained so that he could one day protect Leonica instead of her always defending him. However, during one of these sessions, Ragna would not only experience a prophetic dream which told him of a Dragon attack that would lead to the death of Leonica, but he would also gain the power of his future self who'd trained for years to vanquish all Dragons. After managing to stop the future tragedy, Ragna came to the conclusion that in order for him to become stronger he would need to leave behind Leonica. Shortly after this decision, he would meet his greatest ally in the future, the cunning and equally vengeful Crimson, and they depart on their journey to exterminate the Dragon race.

[81] Hunter × Hunter began airing in the United States on the Funimation Channel in the spring of 2009. [82] Original video animations[edit] Main article: List of Hunter × Hunter OVA episodes When the Hunter × Hunter anime covered most of its source material by 2001, Nippon Animation made the decision to end the adaptation rather than continue it with filler. [83] Due to fans' unsatisfied reactions to the conclusion of the television series, three subsequent OVAs were produced by Nippon Animation. These carried the plot from where the broadcast left off during the Yorknew City arc and covered the Greed Island arc. [84][85][86][87][88] The first OVA series was directed by Satoshi Saga and ran for eight episodes in four released volumes from January 17 to April 17, 2002. [89] The second OVA series, Hunter × Hunter: Greed Island, was directed by Yukihiro Matsushita and ran for eight episodes in four released volumes from February 19 to May 21, 2003. [90] The third OVA series, Hunter × Hunter: G. I. Final, was directed by Makoto Sato and ran for 14 episodes in seven released volumes from March 3 to August 18, 2004. [91] After the original anime's initial run on Animax, the OVAs were aired successively. [75][92] Viz has shown no intention of releasing English versions of the OVAs.
