Fan Works Beochan: Paisean Agus Aiféala has a little bit of an anime feel in its art style, much like The Powerpuff Girls. Holo-Chronicles is, appropriately enough for being based off of hololive, a series with a very clear anime inspiration. Kugeki even lists the specific anime that they reference from in the descriptions of the videos. Less Bittersweet gets some anime-ish art style second-hand from imitating the animesque work it's based, on, Doki Doki Literature Club!, particularly the character art. However, there's no attempt to make it into a manga instead of a western comic. Pacific: World War II U.

A typical episode follows one or both of the leads as they are placed in a scenario in which they must either outperform an opponent established to have exceptional skills in a particular field of cooking or meet the standards of a seemingly unpleasable judge, usually illustrated by a succession of nameless extras presenting their own unsatisfactory meals. Whenever a named character's dish is being eaten, the eater will, without fail, squeal and convulse in nigh-orgasmic delight, then describe the taste and cooking technique with purple prose so thick as to make Lovecraft blush, accompanied by some kind of illustrated simile. This style of presentation may appeal to the technically minded, but grows tiresome and repetitive over the course of the season's 24 episodes. It's hard to be impressed with the main characters' skills when just about every dish is treated like Manna from Heaven and one can expect to hear terms like "umami" and "depth of flavour" thrown around ad nauseum. For this reason, Food Wars works best when the leads are forced to come up with creative solutions, focusing shifting the focus away from sensory spectacle and more on to problem solving.
As a story, Food Wars walks a well-trodden path, focusing first and foremost on Soma's ambition to reach the highest echelons of Tōtsuki Academy and surpass his father in terms of culinary skill.

He warns that if the worm tries to emerge in Tokyo, it could cause an earthquake of the same magnitude as the 1923 Great Kantō earthquake. Suzume notices the worm emerging again, and the two follow it. The worm takes a huge form in the sky and the two fly over it. Daijin reappears and reveals he has passed on his function as a keystone to Souta. Souta suddenly turns into a keystone and Suzume reluctantly uses him to lock-up the giant worm. Suzume wakes up at a shrine housing the Tokyo gate, where she sees Souta in the Ever-After, but is unable to enter the door. Daijin appears and Suzume gets angry at him and tells him not to come back. She visits Souta's grandfather, Hitsujirō Munakata, at the hospital, hoping to figure out how to rescue Souta. He explains that Suzume's ability to see the worm and the Ever-After through the doors, means that in some point in her life she entered the realm through one of the doors. Moreover, the doorway that she first used is the only place where she can re-enter the Ever-After in order to save Souta. She decides to locate this specific door in her hometown in the Tōhoku region, which was destroyed in the 2011 Tōhoku earthquake and tsunami, where Suzume lost both her mother and home.
