The story might seem a little childish at first but as soon as the plot develops the (very) dark nature of the story becomes obvious. The characters are unique and incredibly well developed, with the show not being afraid of testing them psychologically in a way that not many animes are willing to. The fights are intense both physically and psychologically and as the Anime progresses they tend to become more violent and over the edge.
The soundtrack is beautiful. From the intense/epic classic orchestras to the guitar riffs, everything seems to fall into place. Even the show's "intros" and "outros" are very consistent and worth listening to.
All in all, this is the kind of Anime that a true fan of this Japanese art will not want to miss. helpful•36241g-luismiguel14Nov 6, 2012Top picksSign in to rate and Watchlist for personalized recommendationsSign inFAQ18How many seasons does Hunter x Hunter have?Powered by AlexaWhat is the difference between "Hunter x Hunter (1999)" and "Hunter x Hunter (2011)" ?DetailsEditRelease dateAugust 11, 2012 (Taiwan)Countries of originJapanPolandOfficial siteOfficial site [Japan]LanguagesJapaneseEnglishAlso known asHunter x HunterProduction companiesMadhouseNippon Television Network (NTV)ShueishaSee more company credits at IMDbProTechnical specsEditRuntime24 minutesColorColorSound mixDolby DigitalAspect ratio16:9 HDRelated newsContribute to this pageSuggest an edit or add missing contentIMDb Answers: Help fill gaps in our dataLearn more about contributingEdit pageAdd episodeMore to exploreListStaff Picks: What to Watch in MarchSee the listListIMDb Staff's 2024 Oscar PredictionsSee our predictionsListHillary's 6 Picks for March and BeyondSee the full listRecently viewedYou have no recently viewed pagesGet the IMDb AppSign in for more accessSign in for more accessGet the IMDb AppHelpSite IndexIMDbProBox Office MojoIMDb DeveloperPress RoomAdvertisingJobsConditions of UsePrivacy PolicyYour Ads Privacy ChoicesIMDb, an Amazon company© 1990-2024 by IMDb.

[26] Research by Dan Ariely found that American women exhibit a marked preference for dating taller men and that for shorter men to be judged attractive by women, they must earn substantially more money than taller men. [27] Some research has suggested that the "beauty premium" for a job largely depends on whether or not attractiveness could potentially enhance productivity, such as those jobs which require substantial interpersonal interaction, while jobs that do not demand this see minimal or no beauty premium. [28] Men show a strong preference for physical attractiveness over intelligence when choosing a mate, as shown in a study conducted over data from a speed dating experiment. [29] In a study with 4,573 adult participants it was shown that physical attractiveness is the most valued quality in women, even when considered outside of the context of mate selection. [30] Research indicates that more attractive individuals are at greater risk of being a victim of crime due to being involved in more social interaction, increasing their risk of exposure. Greater physical attractiveness can also lead individuals to be at greater risk of sexual abuse, regardless of gender. [31] Ethics[edit] In the article "Is Lookism Unjust", Louis Tietje and Steven Cresap discuss when discrimination based on looks can legitimately be described as unjust. [32] Tietje and Cresap quote evidence that suggests there exists "a 7–to–9 percent 'penalty' for being in the lowest 9 percent of looks among all workers and a 5 percent 'premium' for being in the top 33 percent". While accepting that the evidence indicates that such discrimination does occur, the authors argue that it has been pervasive throughout history and that judgments of aesthetics appear to be a biological adaptation (rather than culturally conditioned) to aid reproduction, survival, and social interaction, allowing people to determine viable mates (level of attractiveness being indicative of health) and the status of others as "friend or enemy, threat or opportunity". The authors also argue that if physical attractiveness can improve a company's success, then awarding people for it is justifiable, as the trait is thus relevant to the job and discrimination only occurs when irrelevant traits are used. In addition, the authors question the practicality of both redressing any injustices based on lookism and of determining whether such injustices have in fact occurred.
