Ippo motioned the Dempsey Roll, and was about to throw a punch from below with it, however, Sendō got in the ring and stopped him, scolding both of the boxers as it was suppose to only be a "touch spar". Ippo agrees to be a second for Wally. Ippo slept in a room upstairs while Miguel and Wally watched over him. When Ippo got up, Miguel asked how Ippo is feeling, as they may need take him to the hospital. Ippo answered that it is only painful where Volg hit him and he was just tired from the flight. Wally asked Ippo, since he retired, if he no longer likes boxing, something Ippo taught him was fun and why he won't
come back. Ippo answered that he
still loves boxing, and, while he doesn't answer why he quit, he claimed that he is giving it his all to show everyone the greatness of boxing now. Ippo was surprised by Wally's excitement for his match against Ricardo. Later, Ippo told Sendō that he hopes Volg and Wally win, however, Sendō thinks it won't happen because Wally lacks
bloodlust. Ippo, remembering Date's amount of bloodlust couldn't stop Ricardo, thought that Wally will be a challenger that is unlike anything they have seen before just the way he is. At the Arena México, Ippo watched Volg's press conference and Ricardo and Wally's press conference.

It's a minor change but it feels unnecessary. He's still just as foul-mouthed as he was before, so why change it at all?
If there's one positive thing I can say about the anime, it's that the
music is pretty decent. The opening song is good, even if the visuals of the opening leave a lot to be desired. The ending song is terrible, the rap does not complement the series at all. The background music does its best at trying to get the audience hyped for the fights and would succeed if not for the fights themselves didn't look so bad. The voice actors are fantastic for the most part Daisuke Namikawa is absolutely perfect as Kiryu Setsuna, he
gives the best performance in the show.
