Sendō noted by experience that Sawamura can back up his words, and warned Ippo that he is a counter puncher, along with being the Dempsey Roll's natural enemy. Outside the building, Sendō told Ippo how Sawamura may have the potential to surpass Miyata, suggesting to train with someone able to counter the Dempsey Roll. Later, Ippo went to Takamura's press conference for his first WBC junior middleweight title defence match against Larry Bernard. There, Takamura announced that he would relinquish the junior middleweight belt to move up a weight class in his conquest to conquer six weight classes from junior middleweight to heavyweight. To prove it, he claimed he would not get hit once against Bernard. The next day, Ippo went to the Ryōgoku Kokugikan and was worried about Takamura's claim of not getting hit. Takamura however, revealed that he had a plan. Ippo then watched the match, where Takamura did Aoki's Look Away and then turned his body for a full body Look Away. However, it did not fool Bernard as he was able to hit Takamura during the action. Despite breaking his no-hit promise, Takamura won. In the changing room, Ippo told Itagaki that Takamura probably would have taken no hits if he fought properly and how he is like a superhuman after fighting a world title fight without a sweat.

[2][4][5] His ghost is greeted by Botan, a woman who introduces herself as the pilot of the Sanzu River, who ferries souls to the Underworld (霊界, Reikai, "Spirit World" in the English anime dub) where they may be judged for the afterlife. Botan informs Yusuke that his act had caught even the Underworld by surprise and that there was not yet a place made for him in either heaven or hell. Thus Koenma, son of the Underworld's ruler King Enma, offers Yusuke a chance to return to his body through a series of tests. [2][4][5] Yusuke succeeds with the help of his friends Keiko Yukimura and Kazuma Kuwabara. After returning to life, Koenma grants Yusuke the title of "Underworld Detective" (霊界探偵, Reikai Tantei, lit. "Spirit World Detective", "Spirit Detective" in the English dub), charging him with investigating supernatural activity within the Human World (人間界, Ningen Kai). Soon Yusuke is off on his first case, retrieving three treasures stolen from the Underworld by a gang of demons: Hiei, Kurama, and Goki. [5] Yusuke collects the three treasures with the aid of his new technique, the Rei Gun, a shot of aura or Reiki (霊気, Reiki, lit. "Spirit Energy") fired mentally from his index finger. [2][4] He then travels to the mountains in search of the aged, female martial arts master Genkai. Together with his rival Kuwabara, Yusuke fights through a tournament organized by Genkai to find her successor. It is also responsible for her youthful appearance. Andy continues to attack but Gina's ability prevents him from hitting her. Andy resorts to using Fuuko's ability by severing his head and regenerating his body under her clothes. This infuriates Gina and she uses her hat as a flying buzzsaw to attack the two. While dodging, Fuuko realizes there must be an open spot in Gina's shield by her feet. They also find out that Gina's ability uses a series of invisible arms to ensnare her opponents. Furthermore, they learn Gina has been traveling using a cloaked spaceship, which was the source of the satellite attack. With all this information and the built up Unluck, Andy successfully bypasses Gina's shield and causes the Unluck to kill her. 5"United We Negate"
