Assane tails Ferdinand and discovers that he is an accomplice of Jean-Luc Keller, a man whose boxing club Assane had joined as a teenager. Keller had forced Assane and Bruno to take part in a jewellery theft, but he had been the only one arrested for the crime and has carried a vendetta against Assane ever since. Under the guise of granting him an interview, Claire meets with Objector journalist Arnold de Garmeaux, who was present at the morgue when Assane's body was inspected, and asks him to describe the attending doctor to a sketch artist. She is startled when the sketch turns out to be a portrait of Benjamin. Claire
visits Benjamin in prison and deceives him into thinking that Assane had confessed everything to her; Benjamin responds by asking what Assane's current plans are. Having received confirmation that Assane is alive, Claire begins to weep with joy. 166"Chapter 6"Xavier GensKam Odedra, George Kay, François Uzan5 October 2023 (2023-10-05) In retaliation for Manon's arrest, Keller orders Ferdinand to kill Claire and Raoul. Claire notices Ferdinand stalking her and manages to evade him, but her worries about future attacks lead her to invite Alex, Raoul's basketball coach, to stay for dinner. Claire has become smitten with Alex due to his softly-spoken bravery and his protectiveness of Raoul. After Raoul has gone to bed, Claire attempts to kiss Alex, but to her dismay, he gently turns down her advances and leaves after
showing her how to set up her alarm system. The following morning, Claire finds a ketchup bottle standing upside-down in the refrigerator, a quirk of Assane's that she had first noticed when they were teenagers, and realizes that Alex is in fact Assane.
This is especially bad in the relationship between Sena and Riku. There’s this whole backstory that no one cares
about that was dragged on and on with Sena, Mamori, and Riku that never happened in the manga. Also, despite Riku getting 10x more screen time than the manga, they decide to also make him doubly more immature. He loses his cool when playing against Sena in a match and is put on the bench to settle down. This never happens in the manga, because in the manga, Riku’s not an idiot who can’t reign his emotions in. Of course, the moments between matches are where the filler mostly resides. Again, random events that get prolonged just a bit too long or dialogue that’s extremely pointless and rehashed over and over again in order to fill in those precious minutes of complete nothingness.
So, do I recommend the manga over the anime? Eh, up to you. I think all of the changes that the anime made were way worse, and the pacing is a lot slower than it should be at times. But, when it matters the most, the matches and the clashes between teams shown in
animation to me, feel a lot more exciting in the anime. Plus, Hiruma’s voice acting is just way too good to pass up.
